CANCELLATIONSCU pulls film because of subjectTuesday's tragedy led to a last-minute film change in the University of Colorado's International Film Series because of sensitivity over subject matter. The series was set to present a free screening of "Desert Blue" at 7 p.m. today in Muenzinger Auditorium on campus. Pablo Kjolseth, director of the film series, says the distributor of "Desert Blue" pulled the print on Wednesday because one of the film's characters is an anarchist who uses explosives in a small town. In its place, the film series will screen "Hurricane Streets," by the same filmmaker, Morgan J. Freeman. Freeman, who was set to appear in person with "Desert Blue," still will make an appearance to discuss the substitute film. For more information, call (303) 492-1531.

Trapped student penned dramatic poetryTrapped inside a Columbine High School classroom Tuesday, with gunmen roaming the halls and shooting anyone in sight, Nikki Simpson decided to write poetry. Her science teacher had locked the door of the room to prevent the assailants from entering, and, hoping to calm and distract her students, she handed the class pencils and paper. Simpson spent hours trying to capture the terrifying ordeal with just the right words. As she wrote, gunfire clanged off lockers and shattered glass, sending students cowering beneath their classroom seats. Now we're all on the floor Shots heard outside It's not a dream anymore Not right outside our door But wait There's more When's it going to stop? .. . Then came the screams Thank God Mrs. Mo locked the doors Before he finally got to our hall Which was just seconds
